Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin for both physical and mental
health. There are several different sources of vitamin B12.
Vitamin B12 is an important vitamin for a number of different
reasons. Unlike many other vitamins, it supports not only physical but
mental health as well. Believe it or not, many people who suffer from
negative mental conditions such as anxiety or depression could at
least partially alleviate their symptoms by consuming a greater amount
of vitamin B12 each day. Like many of the other B vitamins, many
people suffer from a vitamin B12 deficiency. This can lead to a number
of different problems including depression, fatigue, and lack of focus
or mental clarity. It can also causes problems with the nervous
system, and it can lead to anemia. Thankfully, there are several
different sources of vitamin B12 that can help people prevent
developing a deficiency of this important vitamin.
There are a number of different foods that contain sufficient
amounts of vitamin B12. It only occurs naturally, however, in meat or
meat by-products such as eggs or milk. Those who do not eat these
foods often rely on vitamin fortified cereals or breads. It is easy to
tell if a product contains vitamin B12 simply by looking at the
nutrition facts label. On this label, there is a section that shows
the daily value percentage of various essential vitamins, including
vitamin B12. In general, any food with a daily value percentage of at
least ten to nineteen percent is considered to be a good source of
vitamin B12. If the food contains twenty percent or more, it is an
excellent source. One excellent food source for vitamin B12 is cooked
clams. Surprisingly, just three ounces of cooked clams contains 1,400%
of the amount of vitamin B12 you need each day. Foods with such high
values are good for anyone, but they are especially ideal for those
who suffer from B12 deficiencies. Many fortified breakfasts cereals
contain 100% of the daily value, which is convenient because it allows
one to know they're gotten their daily amount at the very beginning of
the day.
For those who are unable to get enough vitamin B12 through food or
they are unable to absorb it properly, there are also other
alternatives. Many companies offer B12 supplements are are available
in low dosages over the counter without a prescription. For those who
cannot properly absorb the nutrient, though, there are also B12 shots
that are administered by a doctor.
